The policy

What Compressy stores

Everything below lives on your own disk. None of it is transmitted anywhere.

Policy · Effective 2 October 2026

Local data, in plain language

The app keeps settings, thumbnails, backups, and exports on your PC so it can resume where you left off. That is the entire data story.

App settings and window size are saved as JSON in your local app-data folder (%LOCALAPPDATA%\compressy\settings.json). Image previews are cached as thumbnails in the same folder so lists render fast on revisit. When you compress with overwrite enabled, originals move to a backup subfolder next to your images — never to a server. CSV exports go wherever you save them.

What is never collected

No names, emails, accounts, usage telemetry, crash reports, advertising identifiers, or image content — from adults or children. There is no sign-up because there is nothing to sign up for.

Network

No network calls

The app is fully usable with the network off. There is nothing to phone home to.

Loopback only The app serves its own window over 127.0.0.1 — traffic that never leaves your machine.
No update checks No automatic update pings, no version lookups, no remote config.
No third parties No analytics SDKs, no ad networks, no crash reporters — nothing embedded that could report back.
Your control

Delete everything

Removal is two steps, both on your machine.

01 01
Uninstall

Remove Compressy via Settings → Apps, or uninstall the Store package — the install folder goes with it.

02 02
Clear app data

Delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\compressy to remove settings, window geometry, and cached thumbnails. Your images and backups are untouched.

FAQ

Privacy — FAQ

Do my images ever leave my PC?

No. Scanning, thumbnails, compression, backups, and CSV export all happen on your disk. No image bytes are uploaded anywhere.

Is there an account or telemetry I can opt out of?

There is nothing to opt out of — no accounts exist and no telemetry is collected.

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

The app folder is removed by uninstall. Delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\compressy to clear the remaining settings and thumbnail cache.

Does this policy ever change?

If the app ever gains a networked feature, this page will be updated first with a new effective date. The offline core stays as described.
